Welcome to Vigox – a personal emergency detection and safety application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal information.

By using the app, you fully agree to the terms described in this document. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the application.

⚠️ Limitations & Disclaimer of Warranty

No human operator is monitoring you. The app sends an alert to the contacts you chose. No professional watches the event, verifies it, or dispatches help on your behalf.

Vigox is not a medical device and is not intended for medical diagnosis, monitoring or treatment.

Technical limitations you should understand:

• Fall detection is algorithmic – it can miss a real fall, and it can also raise a false alarm on motion that was not a fall.
• It depends on hardware and connectivity – a dead battery, no cellular signal, weak GPS or a powered-off device will stop the app from working.
• SMS delivery depends on your mobile carrier – the app hands the message to the operating system, but cannot guarantee that it arrives, or when.
• Permissions and system settings – revoking a permission, battery-saver mode, or a device manufacturer's optimisations can stop the background service without warning.

🐞 Bugs, Feedback & Fixes

Vigox is software, and software has bugs. We work to find and fix them, but we cannot promise the app will be defect-free or continuously available.

Found a problem? Please tell us. The app includes a "Report a Bug" button, and you can also write to the address in the "Contact Us" section below.

Every report is reviewed. Defects affecting the emergency path receive the highest priority and are handled first. That said, we do not commit to a timeframe for a fix, or to resolving every issue.

📊 Information We Collect

• Precise GPS Location – during emergency events and live location updates during escort monitoring (every 3 minutes), including background location access.
• Account Information – name and email via Google Sign-In (Firebase Authentication)
• Emergency Contacts – name and phone number of contacts manually added by the user
• Audio Recordings – automatic ambient audio recorded when an emergency alert is triggered, uploaded to Firebase Storage
• Sensor Data – accelerometer and gyroscope data for detecting falls, shakes, and abnormal movement
• Device Information – device model and OS version for technical support purposes only
• Bluetooth & Wi-Fi Scan – nearby device detection during emergencies for environmental context
• Battery Level – background monitoring to alert users of low battery
• Voice Input – keyword detection for triggering emergency mode (processed locally only, not stored)
• Event Log – emergency event records (time, location, status) stored in Cloud Firestore

• Sending emergency SMS with location to your saved contacts
• Providing real-time location updates during escort monitoring
• Maintaining a personal emergency event history
• Improving app performance and fixing bugs
• Authenticating users and saving preferences
• Running automatic emergency features (alarm, SOS flashlight, TTS guidance)

🔐 Required Permissions

• Location (Always / Background) – to send location during emergencies even when the app is not in the foreground
• Microphone – ambient audio recording during emergency alerts
• Contacts – selecting emergency contacts from the phone's address book
• Send SMS – dispatching emergency messages to saved contacts
• Camera / Flashlight – SOS flash signal
• Bluetooth & Wi-Fi – environmental context scanning during emergencies
• Boot on Startup – launching background monitoring service on device restart
• Run in Background – continuous sensor and location monitoring when screen is off

🔒 Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase services (Authentication, Firestore, Storage) with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256).

• Audio recordings are protected by Firebase Security Rules and are inaccessible to any other user
• Contacts and events are stored under your unique user ID only
• Personal settings are stored locally on the device (SharedPreferences)
• No passwords are stored – authentication is handled via Google OAuth only

🤝 Third-Party Sharing

We may share data only in the following circumstances:

• Google / Firebase – infrastructure provider (subject to Google's Privacy Policy)
• SMS Provider – solely for dispatching emergency messages to your saved contacts
• Law Enforcement – when required by a court order or legal obligation

⏳ Data Retention & Deletion

• Emergency event data is retained for 12 months and then automatically deleted
• Audio recordings are retained for up to 30 days and then automatically deleted
• Users may request deletion of all their data at any time
• Upon account deletion – all data is permanently deleted within 30 days

👤 Your Rights

• Right of Access – receive a copy of all data stored about you
• Right to Rectification – correct inaccurate information at any time
• Right to Erasure – request deletion of all your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Right to Object – object to certain types of data processing
• Right to Portability – receive your data in a portable format
• Permission Control – manage permissions through your device settings at any time

👶 Children's Privacy

This application is intended for users aged 13 and older, in compliance with COPPA and Google Play policies. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If such data is discovered, it will be deleted immediately.

🔄 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced within the app and, where applicable, via email to registered users. Continued use of the app after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
